Biographical Sketch

I was born in New Delhi, India. My family moved to Toronto when I was less than an year old. I lived there for about 4 years before returning to India.

At the age of 11, I successfully cleared the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) examination and established a world record of being the "youngest MCSE". My achievement was covered by India's leading newspapers and I was interviewed by Zee News. This achievement was officially entered in the Limca Book of Records 2001, which is Indian equivalent of Guinness Book of World Records.

In 2005, I graduated from Hans Raj Model School, New Delhi. Though I always dreamed of going to USA for my higher education, I settled for BITS Pilani, Dubai and started working towards my B.Sc. Computer Science. Dubai is a beautiful city and it was a pleasure to be a part of such an esteemed academic system in an international setting.

In Spring 06, I got an opportunity to lead one of the university's programming teams at the UAE National Programming Contest. My team was recognized as the best university team. Considering that my team was the only one comprising of all freshmen, we did a reasonably good job.

Later that year, my dream came true and I made it to the United States. For a semester, I attended Manchester College, located in Indiana in a small peaceful town called North Manchester (population <6k), which is what I loved the most about it.

In 2007, I moved to the Silicon Valley, CA and continued my B.Sc. at San Jose State University. Meanwhile I started web development at a startup company named Opson. I got an opportunity to brush up my basic HTML and JavaScript skills. This is when I officially started using Linux. I learned a lot about web development, system administration, quality assurance, and almost everything one has to deal with at a startup struggling to succeed.

In Spring 08, I got the title of CS Tutor at SJSU, where I polished my basics while helping students understand tricky concepts and algorithms.

Following summer, I got selected in Yahoo!'s Big thinker program and became an intern in southern California. At Yahoo! I built a web application for internal use. It was hot down in the LA area as compared to San Jose, but it was a great experience overall. I enjoyed the 2-month internship and the 6-hour drive. Eventually, the internship went well and was extended for a semester. I continued working on the same project from northern California, while staying at home and attending the university.

Presently I'm working as the "Web Guru" for The Tech Museum's initiative called Program for the Future. It deals with harnessing the Collective Intelligence of the community. The program aims to provide tools to catalyze the development of projects that will end up being exhibits in the Virtual Tech Museum inSecond Life. The projects don't have to be limited to the museum; the possibilities are infinite.

I've been working as a consultant, developing Web Applications. I graduated from SJSU in May 09 and have been working full-time at EMC afterwards.
